There has been a lot on my mind lately...but I admit, I've been tweeting more than blogging. Can I help it? No! I've made so many great friends since I started tweeting, but still I adore all you beautiful bloggers out there (just so you know, most of my new twitter friends are bloggers...lol).
So, here is the thing, I'm just going to throw out everything I'm thinking on at one time. I wanted to write and individual post for all these things, but really -- I have no time!!! Work, work, work...vacation!
Here we go:
Darn. Now I can't think of anything I was going to write. OH! It's coming back to me...
1. $3 Classical books at Target are the BEST thing ever!
I have collected The Phantom of the Opera, Around the World in 80 Days, The Little Princess, Jane Eyre, and *ba da bum* The Scarlet Pimpernel...all brand new for $3 a piece! So fantabulous!
![]() |
| Jane Eyre and The Scarlet Pimpernel chillin' on my desk! |
2. Nothing makes me more cheery and optimistic than watching The Lizzie McGuire Movie. It was one of my favorite movies growing up (always a must during a sleepover!). I still love it. Love Hilary. Love the music! Love Italy! Just came to mind, and I had to say it!
![]() |
| Now it's stuck in your head too. :D |
3. The best place to go in Florida? St. Augustine. Seriously, it is so stunning and charming, so...oi. I don't even know. I love it and I can't wait to be there again!!

| Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine FL |
4. Must have for summer? E.L.F. Primer ($6 at Meijer)! If you aren't going to wear heavy coverage makeup (you shouldn't in the summer, get some sun!), use this super light smoothing formula to make your quick summer look très fabuleux!

| E.L.F. Primer |
5. My summer nail color (or...Florida nail color...) Hazard by Sinful Colors! It is bright...but really summery and cute!

6. Want a movie to make you bawl your eyes out? Oooh my heavens, watch Return to Me (starring the utterly awesome Minnie Driver). It's a long time favorite of mine, I watched it again last week, and seriously....I cried soooo hard. Gorgeous movie.
![]() |
| It really is "Fresh, Funny, and Charming" :) |
7. Shout out to Kellie over at Nothing Less Than Bread! Monday Movie Quote will indeed be a link up starting next week!!! Prepare yourselves ladies, haul up your favorite quotes! :) I cannot wait to see what you all have up your sleeves! Keep an eye out Monday for the link up & info!

8. I'm going to Florida. On a vacation. Just for fun. For a week! With my lovely sisters!!!!! I cannot caaaaaaaaaaaaaannot wait! I just threw together a bag of my favorite summer makeup, got my glowing Jergens lotion and a Groupon for a...spray tan. Oh my word...I'm so nervous for the spray tan...if I am orange....expect pictures!! :) LOL. Sunshine & fresh air...I can't wait.
9. I want a new version of Persuasion made. For reals. Don't get me wrong, I do like both of the versions on the market (and the old old old one), but still, I think it's time for one with a half decent (not half dead) looking Anne Elliot, and a little more romance in the story...and for goodness sake, can we get a NOT weird kiss at the end? In one version we get creepy circus music, the other an awful awkward prolonged kiss. It was....gross. Ugh.
![]() |
| ...I can hear her weird breathing as I post this...so strange. |
And so, with that desperately rambley update, I leave you all, with no more words from me until Monday (yes, some bloggers to work... ;).
All my love, sleep sweet!

I totally agree with you about wanting a decent Anne Elliot, I like Cirien Hinds as Captain Wentworth, but all the Annes I've seen have been blah!
ReplyDeleteReturn to Me is such a good movie, and can I just say, Minnie Driver's hair is fantastic!!
Beautician and the Beast is an adorable movie I can't believe I've found someone else that knows about it! I've kind of watched every Beauty and the Beast remake I've found, it's a wee bit of an obsession really..... ;-)
I need to see The Lizzie McGuire movie, we didn't have the Disney channel when the show was originally on, but I've been hearing good things, so maybe it deserves a watch!
Have fun in Florida!
Thanks KatySue!! I shall have a great time! I can't wait! I DO love Beauty and the Beast! And the Beautician and the Beast is so amazing as well! :)
DeleteYes. Her hair is AWESOME.
Also, YES! Watch the Lizzie McG movie...but if you didn't watch it growing up, you may not like it as much! When it came out on DVD, we rented it (I was like...13?) and it was our go-to chick flick til we saw What A Girl Wants...and we still LOVE them both!! :)
LL's big sis chiming in... I'm 25 and just watched the Lizzie McGuire movie again 2 days ago. It's just so cute! Like she said, you may not be as into it as we are if you never saw the show, but it's still a good story. :)
DeleteAnd if you haven't seen What A Girl Wants... do yourself a favor and watch it. My dad cried through the whole thing, and even my husband enjoyed it. :)
All I'm gonna say is...YES to a new Persuasion. And while they're at it...a new Mansfield Park would be nice (the 2007 version - we all see the guy as Mr. Elton now, and the girl - ugh...and earlier versions, either too old or inappropriate). HAVE FUN IN FLORIDA! Yay for Twitter/blog friends too. :)
ReplyDeleteI KNOW. Mansfield Park & Persuasion are both awkward films. REALLY need a new one of both!!!! :D Yay! Procrastinating tweeters unite! :D
DeleteYay for cheap books (especially classics)! I've recently realized that no matter what the great deals are that I find on books, I can't keep buying them at such an alarming rate and not run out of money and bookshelf space. :-) I think that I need a monthly book budget... for real this time. :-) It's been a looong time since I watched Return to Me. I remember liking it, so I'm going to have to give it a re-watch. A new Persuasion would be awesome! Do you have any casting ideas? I liked Wentworth in '07 (or maybe I just love to look at Rupert Penry-Jones?!). I guess I need to see both versions again so that I can get all the necessary improvements in my head for when I'm asked to direct it. :-) I finished The Fairest Beauty last night! It came in the mail on Thursday and I didn't waste much time getting started. :D The author did a great job of changing the classic Snow White story around to make it new. I really enjoyed it! For me, a steady diet of these types of books (i.e. something written by a modern author that features a totally gorgeous hero and a bit more sexual tension than your average classic) tends to disrupt my usually contented state of singleness, but I can handle them every once in a while. :-) Thanks again for hosting a giveaway for such a fun book!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!!!!! So glad you got it!!! I agree, Rupert Penry-Jones is awesome, I just WISH they would make Anne half decent!! I was thinking of making a Persuasion dream cast link-up or vote thing! How fun!
DeleteI know...I buy WAY too many books!
Yes! A link-up or poll would be loads of fun! I spend way too much time dream-casting my favorite books or all of the movies that desperately NEED to be given a second chance at awesomeness. :D
DeleteAhhh Hillary Duff, I'm having flashbacks as I type!! Played her CD at my birthday party. It's crazy how time flies!!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog at theteadrinkingtype.blogspot.com
thanks,
syd
Hey Syd! :D I know, right? That soundtrack was our favorite!!
Delete$3 classics at Target??? How did I not know about these? And I was just there a couple days ago! Argh!
ReplyDeleteI love Return to Me -- saw it in theaters, and gave my mom a copy for her birthday a couple years ago. They mention Bobby Darin as one of the great Italian crooners, which makes me so happy.
They are in the little dollar / cheap section by the entrances at most Targets! They always have such great stuff there, and every few months they have a couple classics in, but they go FAST!
DeleteI had FLASHBACKS to Lizzie McGuire....and I've already been playing that song over and over again lately. Oh goodness--reminds me of the early 2000's and my tween years.
ReplyDeleteNow, though, I want to say that you picked up some AMAZING books! The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of my favorites. In fact, I don't think I own a copy of my own....I probably should remedy that
I love that summery nail color. I am all ready for breaking out the fall colors!
Good to have interactions on here and not just Twitter ;-)
I know right? Twitter is good, blogger is awesome. :D Ahh...the good old Lizzie McG days! Gotta love 'em! :) I know, I have a tattered and torn copy of The Scarlet Pimpernel, it's time for a fresh one! :)
DeleteUm, yeah...I'm still loving the Lizzie Mcguire movie...a fav since it was new. :) And I am pleased with most of ELF's products, but I don't have that! I'll have to get it. :) And yay for trips to Florida!! Wooohooo. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks I shall! :)
DeleteYou are bringing back bits of nostalgia with both 'Return to Me' and 'Lizzie McGuire.' The latter is adorbs. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't mind the new 'Persuasion' at all - it is 100% better than the oldie, and the ending is perfectly wonderful - although that whole crying-running-heavy-breathing scene? That is bad!
Have a wonderful Florida trip, Micah. ENJOY!
Are you an LBD fan??? Because I only started saying "adorbs" after watching Lydia... lol :D I do LOVE the story of Persuasion, and even the 2007 version it is great and romantical...Just that SCENE ruins everything!!!! lol I am hoping to have a fabulous trip!
DeleteLol, Micah! Or should I call you Little Lady here? Your choice. :) But I had to pop over here when I saw these comments pop up...adorbs is totally LBD, as is "totes", which has been popping into my head sporadically lately, LOL! Oh, that scene where Lydia spills stuff on Wickham while he's filming with Lizzie...I laughed so hard, she's just awful.
DeleteI like the 1995 and the 2007 Persuasion about equally...loving neither, enjoying both. Ciaran Hinds in the 95 ones is an awesome CW. :)
I have a bad habit of butting in on other people's conversations...my apologies. ;)
LOL!!! I know...now I want to say "totes adorbs" about everything and it's awful...yet awesome! I am literally sitting here right now refreshing my browser over and over waiting for todays LBD vid to come up!!!!
DeleteI know, I'd get such weird looks from my fam. ;) I'm only on #50 or so...have to find time to squeeze them around my TV shows. ;) But, when I watch, I do five or 10 at a time, so I'll be caught up soon! :)
DeleteSO good, right????? I think there are only 8 left! SADNESS.
DeleteI LOVE Lizzie McGuire! My best friend in high school and I loved the show and LOVED LOVED LOVED the movie. I really want to watch it now. But my sister who is in another state has our DVD. Is it on Netflix?
ReplyDeleteGREAT movies! I have NOT seen it on Netflix recently (sadly!), but I know you can buy it (or rent it) on Amazon.com! SUCH a great movie!!
DeleteYay!! So excited for the link-up and ah, gee....shucks. ;) Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen and whereas I like the one with Ciaran Hinds, it does desperately need a remake and that atrocious new one does not even count in my book, so sorry. It was the most awkward, worst-cast Austy I've ever seen! So, here's to a new Persuasion someday soon! :D And I'm thinking I want to give that e.l.f. products a try! It sounds like it could be a huge bonus! Have you used it before?
ReplyDeleteThe story is just gorgeous, and I hope someday a better version comes out!! YES! I use the E.L.F. Primer almost daily (only when I forget to use it do I not wear it... :D). It's great for just smoothing out the skin without a heavy feeling. It's totally sheer, no color, so it's light enough to wear even with liquid foundation!
